The Reflect & Recharge ECE Retreat is a 2 day weekend gathering (October 21 & 22, 2017) for professionals who work in the field of Early Childhood Education. It is being held at the beautiful, historic Cammidge House in Tsawwassen, BC -- which is located within a short drive of most communities in the Greater Vancouver area. This retreat, by ECE Workshops, will bring together up to 40 educators and related professionals who work in a variety of roles to support children and families. Each day, speakers and attendees will be part of a number of collaborative conversation and learning opportunities related to important issues in the field of Early Childhood Education. In addition, there will be several social events planned around the retreat; a Friday evening casual get-together and a Saturday evening ECE dinner at a local restaurant in the Tsawwassen area. We have made arrangements with The Coast Tsawwassen Inn for a special Reflect & Recharge ECE Retreat rate for any attendees who would like to stay in the community while attending the retreat. This promises to be a truly incredible, valuable and memorable professional development opportunity. We hope you will join us!

Gigi is an International speaker and has been the host of two podcasts, The Successful Failure and Keeping Curious, which are available in iTunes. She is a passionate advocate both online and offline for the rights of single mothers and their children. Join us for The Reflect & Recharge ECE Retreat that is being held October 21 & 22, 2017 in Tsawwassen, British Columbia. This retreat will be at the beautiful Cambridge House in Boundary Bay Park. It is a lovely, peaceful historic house that is close to the beach, walking trails and so much more.

The Reflect & Recharge ECE Retreat will bring together a small group of Early Childhood Educators and Early Learning Professionals for a very unique and special professional development experience. There will be ample opportunities for learning, growth, conversation, reflection and recharging. In addition, all participants are invited to be part of a dinner gathering (for a small additional charge) at a local Tsawwassen restaurant on the evening on October 21, 2017.

Using "mastermind" learning modules, special presentations and more - participants will collaboratively work together to set personal and professional goals, further develop their ECE practice and plan action steps related to the work they do in the field.

Reflect & Recharge Retreat Highlights

Presentations by leaders in the field of ECE. Saturday will include 3 Learning Module Sessions that will focus on personal growth, development and reflection directly related to your work in the field of Early Childhood Education.  Sunday will include 3 Learning Module Sessions that will focus on your day to day ECE practice as you work with children and families. Working together we will explore, assess and problem solve related to the topics and issues that today's Early Childhood Educators are interested in.

Opportunities to strengthen your leadership skills in the field of Early Childhood Education through collaborative conversation and reflective learning.

Time to journal, draw, colour and more while reflecting on your personal wellbeing and professional practice -- and -- in the beautiful Cammidge House which is located in Boundary Bay Park.

Invitation to be part of Saturday evening meal (for a small additional fee) at local Tsawwassen restaurant with fellow attendees.

Nature walks,  kite flying on the beach and activities on the porch -- depending upon the weather.

Morning and afternoon breaks will include coffee and tea as well as healthy snack. A healthy lunch option will also be provided on Saturday and Sunday.

You can drop in any time between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM and meet with a few of the retreat speakers and fellow ECE colleagues. During this time we will have a selection of coffee, tea and drinks available as well as some appetizers along with some music and mingling. There will be no additional charge for this informal gathering! This is a great chance for you to explore The Cammidge House, meet some fellow retreat attendees and generally ease into the weekend of activities!

Online Followup Reflections After Retreat

All attendees will receive an email followup within two weeks of the retreat which will allow for additional reflective opportunities. Reflections that are completed and submitted within 30 days will be eligible for an additional 2 hour professional development certificate.

Where is The Cammidge House?

The Cammidge House is located in Metro Vancouver's Boundary Bay Park. The address is 498 Boundary Bay Road, Delta, BC.

The Cammidge House is a beautiful historic house that is accessible on the main floor level. The main presentations of the day will be held in the downstairs of the house. Parking is free. Please review the map below for further information on the location. The park can be accessed by public transit; however the schedule varies depending upon the time of day. It is best to consult Translink to see if public transit will work.

To give you a sense of travel time/route here is a map showing the directions from Vancouver to The Cammidge House.

Who is organizing The Reflect & Recharge Retreat?

This retreat is an initiative of ECE Workshops and 45 Conversations Media & Education. It is being managed by Jane Boyd, Founder & CEO.

Is there a dress code for The Reflect & Recharge Retreat?

This retreat is designed to be a professional learning and development experience. While we don't have a formal dress code, attendees are encouraged to dress in comfortable, professional clothing. 

If I register and then am unable to attend can I obtain a refund?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for registrations. You can however transfer your registration to another Early Childhood Educator for no service fee. We simply ask that you let us know in advance if this is something you would like to do.

How will I receive my professional development certificate?

Professional development certificates will only be issued for participants who attend the WHOLE 2 day retreat. They will be for a total of 10 hours. There will be optional followup work after the retreat where participants can earn an additional 2 hours of professional development.

How much will it cost me to attend the Reflect & Refresh Retreat?

Early bird registration fee through to July 15, 2017 - $149.00 plus GST

Regular registration fee July 16 - October 15, 2017 - $175.00 plus GST

We have a payment plan available to assist with making the registration fees more affordable.

We are coordinating an optional ECE Retreat Dinner on October 21, 2017 at a local restaurant. If you would like to be part of this the extra fee will be $35.00. This will cover the cost for a main meal, a non alcoholic beverage, coffee or tea and dessert plus tip. You will be responsible for any other costs associated with your meal beyond what the $35.00 fee covers -- i.e. alcohol or additional tips.

Can I stay at a hotel close to the retreat location?

Yes - if you would like to do so -- we have made arrangements for this at the Coast Tsawwassen Inn! While Tsawwassen is located within a 20 to 60 minute drive from most places in the Greater Vancouver area; we recognize that some participants might like to come and stay for the weekend. We have negotiated a special Group Rate for Reflect & Recharge ECE Retreat attendees. You can reserve a Comfort Suite for $126.00, based on single/double occupancy plus applicable taxes. It is $15.00 for each extra person after double occupancy. This means you can even share the cost of staying at the hotel by sharing your room with a colleague! This group rate includes the following:

Complimentary continental breakfast for hotel guests

Browns Socialhouse restaurant; indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna and fitness centre

Complimentary high-speed WiFi internet access and business centre

Recently renovated meeting, convention and event facilities and services

Complimentary in-suite coffee and tea; complimentary local calls; complimentary newspaper

Complimentary shuttle service to/from the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal (subject to availability, certain conditions apply)

All Guest Suites include: microwave, coffee maker, mini fridge, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, air conditioning, 2 TV's, pay per view movies, wireless high-speed Internet access, and voicemail. Comfort Suites feature 1 queen bed in bedroom, double bed or sofa bed in sitting area, or 2 double beds in bedroom and sofa bed in sitting room.

Participants are responsible for making their own reservations and paying their own charges directly to the hotel. If you would like to make a reservation we encourage you to do so early as we have a limited block of rooms available for this rate.  Please note  that the Cut-Off Date for making a reservation for this rate is 09/05/2017. Group reservations not confirmed by the cut-off date will not be guaranteed the group rate or access to the group block and will be offered the Hotel's best available rate.

(The deadline for the group rate has now passed, however as of September 26, 2017 rooms were still available at this hotel for an affordable rate. Please contact them directly to discuss your needs.)

How far is the Coast Tsawwassen Inn from the location of the Reflect & Recharge ECE Retreat?

Not too far at all -- just a short car ride away. There is also public transit available in the area. Walking would take longer but is possible if you enjoy walking. Please see the map below for further information on the distance between the two. There is a taxi company that operates in the area if you need to arrange transportation. It's best to make an advance booking if at all possible.

I don't have a credit card - can I pay in some other way for the retreat?

I would like to split my registration fee into three payments - can I do this?

Yes, this is possible -- please see the registration page for this option. Please note this is only available for registrations made prior to mid August 2017 as all payments must be received prior to the start of the retreat.
