Looking for ways to help reduce burnout?
Consider the benefits of positive daily reflection. It’s one of many different strategies for ECEs that can help to reduce stress and enhance personal well-being.
Look for the rainbows and positives in each and every day.
Some days are extremely challenging and exhausting. And the road can indeed feel very long. Especially when it looks like there might be stormy weather ahead.
Instead of stressing about what’s in front of you — try to reflect on what is.
The good that has happened along the journey of your day.
Even if your day has felt difficult — there has been some good that has happened.
So tonight — before the day is through — take 5 minutes and try and reflect on the positives.
Name them.
Think about them.
And be thankful for them.
Putting gratitude out into the world goes a long way to improving your wellbeing and can also help fuel up for the challenges that are yet to come.
There is a lot we can learn from the events of the day — when we use positive reflection as a strategy.
Important Note: It goes without saying — in so many parts of Canada Early Childhood Educators are not paid a living wage. This is a large challenge. Financial stress is very challenging stress. Looking for rainbows and positives will never solve the issues related to low wages. Positive reflection is one of many things that can support ECEs and help to reduce burnout. Ensuring ECEs are paid a living wage is an essential component of reducing educator burnout.
