The moving of kindergartens on P.E.I. into the school system is causing serious problems for daycare centres, says NDP Leader James Rodd, and lack of planning is to blame.
The Ghiz administration doesn't seem prepared to put the proper resources in place as daycare teachers leave to teach in the schools, said Rodd.
"The government is cherry picking and allowing the educators to move to the kindergarten, which is OK, but there is no plan for the early childhood caregivers and their employees that wish to remain," he said.
"It seems that there has been very little planning as to the effect of this move."
Rodd is calling on the government to bring in supports to help early childhood education centres deal with the loss of so many trained and experienced employees.
