Tonight the CBC National reported that a recent survey revealed that a lack of money is a constant source of stress for families in Quebec. Even for middle class families. If families in Quebec – where child care is significantly subsidized by government – are feeling stressed then I wonder how the rest of the country is feeling? In BC, families can pay as much for child care as they do for their housing costs (which are very high). Across the country families are struggling to find and pay for quality child care. The economic uncertainty we are currently facing will only make this situation worse for both families and child care programs.
