And so 2013 is now upon us. It’s a whole new year; starting with a brand new day. An opportunity for everything to begin one more time.
Today is your day…
- What does it mean to you?
- Have you set goals or resolutions that you want to work toward?
- What do you hope will be different this year?
- What have you deliberately left behind in 2012?
Take some time to be with yourself today. Balance your heart with your mind. Focus. Listen. Remember, so much of 2013 is within your power to shape.
Each year Chris Brogan writes about the 3 words that will help focus his goals and efforts for the upcoming year. Last year I chose clarity, focus and practice as my words. Looking back on 2012, I do believe those 3 simple words impacted and helped shape my year in some pretty amazing ways. So for 2013, I am going to do this great exercise one more time.
My 3 Words for 2013
Think – As much as I love to execute, I want to be sure that I remember that it is important to be thoughtful in my approach to things in my business and personal worlds. As the year gets moving, things will get busy. It always happens. Part of remembering to think is to ensure that I take time to plan and be strategic as often as I can. By thinking, I know that everything I ship will be that much better and more closely aligned with my vision.
Rejoice – There are so many things in life to celebrate. In 2013 I want to be sure that I take time to appreciate the beauty that surrounds me, the family that I have and the amazing friends and colleagues that contribute to making my life what it is. There are so many ways to rejoice….I want to practice them far more often – in little and big ways.
Be – To “be” is such a simple thing really; yet not really at all. In 2013, I want to be more mindful and learn to feel more at home with myself, my thoughts and my own company. I want to increasingly tap into the strength and power that comes from finding silence in my mind. I also want to “be” with others in the sense of better understanding the ways that I can be of value to the communities that I’m privileged to be part of. Additionally, I want to learn from others by simply “being” with them, by watching how they choose to “be” and by collaborating with them on the important things that have the power to do true good.
