In response to the many Google stories that ran over the weekend John J. Edwards III wrote a post for the Wall Street Journal’s blog The Juggle. He is trying to determine if people think that workplace child care is a basic benefit or perk.
Neither my company nor my wife’s provides on-site day care at the offices we work at, and I must admit, it never occurred to me to think of it as a basic benefit. What’s your take, readers? Should company-provided day care be part of a standard benefits package, or is it more of a luxury? Would the existence or lack of on-site care play a part in an employment decision for you?
What do you think? Would onsite child care help attract you to a company?

Personally I think that on-site daycare is an excellent idea.Studies show that not only does the employee benefit from this ,but so does the employer (company). I would have given anything when my children were small if the place where I worked had offered this.I would have spent less time at home and more time being a productive employee.Better for the company and for my paycheck.

I am currently researching the idea of a workplace child care center. I really think that this would allow more people to come to work on the days there is no school for your children. The added benefit would be that you could see your children if you wanted too. This would put many parents minds at ease. And yes, it would effect my decision.

I live in a large apartment complex. The office help how bring their child to work. we have to wait tell the baby gets its diaper changed or cries and you need to leave tell they can get the baby to sleep. Some thing all the time. I don”t fell this is good for the baby nor the reidents.
